Swapped from th350 to 400, need custom ujoint?
« on: December 26, 2013, 06:07:11 pm »
blew the th350 in my 83 c10. swapped to a th400 from a 69 camaro. yoke for 350 was too small so went and got a driveshaft with yoke that fits 400. however, it is too short. but if we switch the yoke from the 400 driveshaft to the 350 driveshaft, it will be perfect. problem is we can't find out what ujoint is needed. i am including a picture with the measurements. the smaller numbers are off the 350 shaft which had inner clips, and the 400 has the outer clips.
anyone know if any place makes these, or has them in stock?
so smaller measurements are for the driveshaft we are using, and the larger numbers are for the yoke we are using.
any help? tried napa, they couldn't find it in any of the books

comparison of yokes. 400 on left , 350 on right

sizes, 400 yoke on top, 350 driveshaft on bottom

go to napa (not advance or autozone) tell them what you need they will look it up with the paper catalog and send you on your happy way

i went there and they were looking it up and he said it was the first time they haven't been able to find one to fit.

1330=1.125 is 3.625
1350=1.188 is what i think the th400 (in a 1 ton at least) used it did have the 3.625 also

ahhh, the measurements were off. found this after googling 1330 to 1350 u joint and visiting a few sites: http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx/Universal-Joint-U-Joint-Combination-Universal/_/R-PUJ447_0010270151

looks like it should fit. they have it in stock so I'm probably gonna go grab it and see how it works. Thank you for the knowledge!!

searched google for 1330 to 1350 u joint brought me here:
http://ls1tech.com/forums/drag-racing-tech/1199062-recommend-1330-1350-u-joint.html

also here, this actually had the description from napas site:
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/general-4x4-discussion/772206-1330-1350-u-joint.html

which led me here:
http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx/Universal-Joint-U-Joint-Combination-Universal/_/R-PUJ447_0010270151

This is all for a th350 to th400 swap in an 83 C10 6 foot using the original driveshaft in case anyone uses this in the future.
