Barn Finds
« on: January 20, 2014, 05:42:37 pm »
Dont you love barn finds ? I found two c20s two blocks form work, hidden away in a shed. How many times have I driven past them ???
One is a 68 LWB and the other is a 74 LWB, couldnt get a good look at them. The 74 looks like a parts truck and the 68 looks do able. Lots of extra doors, hoods etc.

I didnt see anything I needed for my 73 c10. If any of you are in FL they my be worth checking out. Dont know what he will ask $800.00 each ?

Any of you found a barn find ?

I could not count how many times I have stopped by someone's who have had vehicles just sitting there and asked about them.  I always get the same answer, not for sale, even after 3 - 5 yrs driving by and never moving.
There was a 74 k10 that I did that for 5 years and offered $500.00 for 5 years and he would not do it.  Finally the county made him get rid of it and he got $250.00 from the local wrecking yard that just crushed it.
      I was really mad.

I will be looking at them next week and get some pics.
They are for sale  ;D  I would like to have the 74 if the price is right. I suck at body work, my truck needs veary little but if I can pull clean parts off the 74 it would save time.
I hate to see them go to the chursher to. I worked in a junk yard for a wile. Lots of classics came in when kids did a number on them or the shed fell in on them.

I was a my local chain salvage yard last week. They don't have many of our year trucks usually. Last week there was a '79 2wd Blazer. I went inside and try to buy the whole truck, they wouldn't sell it. They said they couldn't. It will be crushed.

Good news ! After a long, long time I will be buying the 74 C20 for parts and will get a better look at the 68 c20. I will get some pics, dont know how to post them ?
Also found a shed full of 50s Chevy truck parts.
Now I want to go in every crusty old building I see looking for cars and trucks.

Dug the truck out of the barn today. It is a 77 ? Scottsdale vin CCL33761xxxx.
Will its c20 bed fit my 73 c10s ? Wheel well looks off, but I think it's in my head.
Also will the tilt up seat work in my truck ?

Lots of 68-87 part, a true honey hole !
2 new 73 & up hoods & two used, doors, fenders, heads, intakes, dash bezels and odds and ends.
I could spend days.... And a lot of $$.
Quicky leard to lay out what I wanted and get a price, guy thinks everythings $100.

The 77 will fit your 73 as long as they are both the same length of course.

With out the trucks side by side the weel well through me. I like the Scottsdale, it has shoulder straps and a bin in back of the seat. Now that is handy.
Rear end is 3:73, I would have guessed higher for a C20. My C10 drives like it has a 3:73 rear but I dont know.

The two new hoods have some dings and rust here and ther from sitting 10 years. He's asking $150. But he's also asking $100 for a beat up fender ???
I may sell some of smaller stuff like the wood, chrome and standerd dashs for him.
And sneek some picks, if youre like me you could spend the whole day there digging.

How much stuff ? Two Z28s, one 68 C20 and a John Deere Grove tractor.
In the way of truck parts, 5 or 6 hoods, 4 or 5 doors, 350s, 4 or 5 fenders and much more.
I'd like to get in there again !
But he is a bit ofa butt. I can see why he has not sold it out after working on it for 5 years.

You could make a decent flat bed for hauling out of that, nice score for free.
