Will these headers fit?
« on: January 31, 2014, 12:33:27 pm »
My neighbor has a set of Mr. Gasket Blackjack aluminum coated headers for a small block Chevy.  They were bought for a Nova bot won't fit a car with factory air.  They are supposed to be for a 67-79 Camaro or 68-74 Nova.  Aluminum coated but painted over silver.  He wants 75 bucks for the pair.

Would these fit my 87 Silverado 350 tbi (w-factory air).  If so, will I need shorty plugs? Any other mods I'll need to make?

Right now I have dual Flowmasters, no cats. Just hoping to add a little power and throttle response.

Thanks!

I don't think they would be a perfect fit.  but since its your neighbor why not ask him if you can try to fit them, if they work buy if not then give them back.

incedently, if you're looking for throttle response when was the last time it had a tune-up, or cleaned the TBI or other basic maintenance?

Thanks for the quick responses.  The guy is my neighbor to the extent that he lives near me, don't really know him.  He's selling them now and there is a foot of snow on the ground and it was 7 below the night before last night.  I wouldn't get to install these for 3-4 months so I don't think that there is any chance of trying them on so to speak.

The truck is 2wd, short bed.  It has been very well maintained and is almost original except for mechanical mods like pretty new Flowmaster exhaust with no cats.  I think that it is running about the best it can with the current setup.  I've just heard that headers are a relatively easy way to get a little more power and these are the right price.

Attached is a pic of my truck at the 2013 Detroit Woodward Ave. Dream Cruise.

You might be able to sort of work them in place beside your current exhaust just to see if they look close. I have heard other people on here talk about Monte Carlo and Chevelle headers and they are too short and hit the floor pan on a truck. Let us know what happens next.
