1975 Chevy Engine Swap Question
« on: February 05, 2014, 11:13:38 pm »
I have a 1975 Chevy Scottsdale 20 with a 454 Big Block in it currently. I am looking to swap out the engine. I was wondering which engines could be easily swapped for the 454, and which ones get the best gas mileage? I am also wondering if anyone has put a newer stereo in one.
Any help at all is appreciated.
 Thank you.

well lets start with this, how big is your pocketbook? the more low range power you can put out the better mpgs will be as long as when your cruising you're still not pushing out all that power.
do you want to build a motor or buy one?
do you carb, tbi, tpi, cpi or mpi?
transmission do you want od?
and then you think about your final cost in comparison to the fuel millage you will be saving and how long it will take you to pay for the mods you have done.
also you might want to change your rear ratio

In addition to what Irish said, we also need to know how the truck gets used to be able to give good suggestions. Is this a tow rig? daily driver? Any performance goals?

Very important information to determine which engine to swap in.  Welcome to the site also quinn.knightgirdeen.
