New Gas tank

So I had to have my carb rebuilt, again after I already did it. Significant water damage the guy said, emulsion tubes clogged, water still in carb, he said water and brass don't mix. That and choke light stays on and doesn't open. Looking at fixing tank issue first. I have a 1984 K30, but I know by VIN the body is a 1984 1/2 ton 2WD, and frame had horns cut for body to fit. So its got an unknown vintage frame. I need to order a new drivers side tank since that one leaks anyway, dual tanks. I measure a 41" tank about, and showed a 25 gallon tank, not a 16 gallon pair like I have. Then there was a cutoff for 1981. What should I buy, older gas tank to fit older frame?

Question, I have a longbed and just checked the frame has holes drilled for new mountings for a longer tank. The metal fill tube I have is longer to fit the short tanks. Could I get a 25 gallon tank and remove the second tank and bypass the pollak valve?
After searching old posts, looks like the tanks should fit, but the pre 81 had a different size filler neck. Could anyone tell me the diameter?

16 gallon or 20 gallon are the stock offerings. Anything can be done to eliminate the other tank, extra wiring and valve underneath but why if both tanks work. I have dual tanks on one truck and going to convert my other to dual tanks.

Thought I could eliminate the one tank, return the pollack valve I just bought, bypass that and would just have to figure out the wiring.

Go for it then. 20 gallons of gas is a decent amount.

What do you mean the frame had horns cut cut to fit the body. Are you taking about the front like this where the line is?
There were only 2 sizes of saddle tanks, 16 and 20 gallon. Long beds had either if dual but one was always 20 from what my research shows. The short beds only came with 16's.
The difference in the 73-81 and the 82-91 was the size of the fill hole.

Yes, that was how it was cut for the front bumper to fit. It looks like I could get the bigger tank on the drivers side, just have to cut the fill tube shorter. I might wind up keeping the duals though, can't figure out bypassing the wiring for the valve, easier to keep it as is.

That is so the 81-87 bumper would fit the 73-80 frame. The other parts fit fine.
I don't know which valve you are using, but if it is just a switching valve like the pollak, it has a wiring diagram. You should only have 1 power, 1 ground, 1 to the gauge and 2 to the sending unit..

I have a pollak valve, just need to review the wiring, to see what wires need to be 'jumped' to bypass so I still have a working gas gauge.
