Newby in West Texas
« on: February 18, 2014, 08:54:18 pm »
New here and need some information. I have a 1983 Silverado k10 with a 4 speed manual tranny dual batteries and dual front shocks. Im thinking this was a special order truck.  The truck is not a Camper Special and I have not found another with this equipment.

Welcome from California.  Someone might have ordered the truck set up like that, but it is not rare by any means, plenty of trucks have been set up that way.

Welcome from close to West Texas as well.

Is your truck a diesel?  2 Batteries might explain that.  Dual shocks could have been added any time in the last 30 years.  Don't think that was an option but I could be wrong.

I agree, I've seen many many trucks with the dual shock option, and sometimes triple shock option (aftermarket), and I have friends that have two batteries for their diesel or one with 'normal' use and the other for aftermarket accessories requiring a considerate amount of power (external lights, winches, coolers, etc...). I was going to add dual shocks to my 81 k10 6" lift but my procomps give me no reason to.
