door locks

I have a 85 k10 single cab. My electric door locks on both sides stick locked when they feel like it. What could cause this problem.

Probably a switch condition. It's possible both lock actuators are going bad but, if it's happening at the same time randomly I'de say your switch is sticking and not making contact for the unlock side of the switch. How do the actuators sound when you use the door locks? Do they make a nice solid and quick "kah-chink" when used? Or do they sound like they are sluggish and having trouble moving? Find a wiring diagram on here or from a service manual, it will tell you what terminals on the switch are for what wires. Remove the drivers door lock switch (the one used most often usually) and unplug the harness. Check continuity between the lock and unlock sides when you flip the switch to lock or unlock. Do it 10 to 15 times or so. If you loose continuity at some point then it's your switch. If that yields nothing try the other side. If nothing there either, next time it happens, find your lock/unlock relay and listen to it. If it doesn't click when you use the switches it's failing intermittently.

Try that to start.

     As LTZ C20 said, have you tried to lock/unlock the passenger door from the passenger door ?  Have you ever had problems with that switch, or only the one on the drivers side ?

when they get stuck locked i have tried using pliers to try and get them to unlocked and still nothing

You have tried pliers on the pull and it won't unlock?

You are pulling up on the door lock knob with pliers and they are not releasing, correct?

correct i have pulled on the lock part that comes throught the interior panel with pliers and it still wont unlock but then i can go out there the next day and use the switch and it will unlock. It doesnt happen everytime only when it feels like it

Next time it happens try pulling the fuse for the door locks and see if you can unlock them manually with no power on them.

My locks bind up every now and again. Give it a nice fonz thump below the door handle, and push the exterior andle button all the way in.

I would try what 82 Daily Driver said. It kinda sounds like something is bent or worn so eventually it's slipping and binding and then pops free after being relaxed for awhile allowing the actuator to pop it free when used.

You need to probably lubricate the latch assembly.  You also will need to push the handle button in all the way as 1979C20 stated.  It should free it up.
