Longbed stepside?

I have longbed with a fleetside bed currently on it. If I were to find a longbed stepside, would it bolt right down? And does anyone know where I could find one?

Longbed stepside are quite rare, from what I know. If you find one on a truck you would be better off buying the truck and re-selling it for a profit (if you get it cheap, you just have to find the right person for it).

     Long bed step sides are only rare in certain area's of the country, I thought they were rare too since I had only seen 1 around the west coast.  But members on here say they are all over the place in the mid west and going East.
     I agree though, it would really be hard to find just the long bed step side by itself unless you score one out of a pick-n-pull type yard.

I haven't seen one in years. I do know when I was a kid, you couldn't give a long narrow bed away.

My truck is 86 Chevy C20 Custom Deluxe long step side . It was originally an electricians truck , they took the fenders off the bed and bolted on aftermarket tool bed sides in there place. I bought it from my father in law and he had bolted fenders back on. There are a couple trucks around here but I remember seeing these around when they were new and thinking they were ugly. I guess they grow on you I like the look now , lol!

I just got one and that is why I joined this forum.  Pretty much a Pontiac guy, for older cars, but needed a POS truck for hauling.  Got sick of asking my friends in SoCal here for a favor. 

I sometimes have to haul a 455 or a trans from the junkyard. Seems that most out here have girls type trucks and want to keep the truck box clean.  Kinda goes against the grain for me growing up in central MN, where a truck can be a truck without an identity crisis.

Bought this one 'cause I got it cheap ($1K).  It needed a set of heads and now runs fine.  Got some rebuilt heads for a hundy from a project that never got finished, nice.  Same pic as in my intro.  It's got 100,000 miles on it, original bore, 350/350, quadrajet, no cat, ripped seat, dented rear fenders, AC that needs some R-12 and prolly a hose.  Oiled up the bed planks.

Gonna keep it a while.

Here's another shot, notice the rear fender damage.  May replace both of them with no side marker fenders.  I bought 2 short boxes and 3 of the 4 fenders have no side marker lights.

Sorry forgot to answer O.P.'S original question. I believe it is pretty much a bolt on install , maybe a install kit with blocks and hardware , the tanks may have a different filler, take filler necks from donor just in case. The rear bumper is also not as wide on a step side, my truck has fleet side rear bumper and it looks a little weird.  A lot of these were state trucks around here , usually passed down to county and wore completely out . I have found 3 parts trucks and all three were beat to heck . I could only salvage a couple long steps as mine are damaged and they are not perfect. My truck being a 3/4 ton has fillers on both rear fenders (dual tanks) so keep that in mind when your out looking.

I have the same odd bumper and the color is very close to Copper's.  Looks like a Dr. Pepper can.  I have not seen many longbox ones either.  Someone told me prison movies had them, that made me laugh.  I also heard they were useful for gravel and grain hauling and are more common overseas.

Besides the price, I bought it because it was different.   The shortboxes were all the rage when I was in high School.  I believe one year the shorty stepside was the fastest American production vehicle, with a 454 (SS), maybe 1977 or so. 

I want to keep it stock, with the AC and all, but I do have a 455 Pontiac ready to assemble in the garage.
