Kick Panel Speaker Brackets
« on: March 23, 2014, 04:27:09 pm »
Looking to purchase the kick panel speaker brackets that CaptKaos sells on this site, want to make sure the speakers I want will fit, the depth is no issue, circumference I am not sure here is the link to what I want. You can see the actual specs on it under physical specs, I just want to be able to mount the whole speaker no issues.  http://www.jlaudio.com/c2-650x-car-audio-c2-coaxial-systems-99618

First off there is a difference between the Silverado and non-Silverado trim levels, so you have to order the right one.  I assume you have looked at them on the store site and know that you have to cut the speaker holes. (Which is better in your case).
The non-Silverado ones have speaker mounting area of 6.5" and will hold a speaker depth of 3".  The Silverado version is molded the same, as far as the speaker area is concerned as far as I can tell.
( You might not get a washer behind the molded area to mount the speaker unless you grind off one side of the washer to where it is flat to sit against the side of the curved speaker area ).
The ones you want to buy

Frame Outer Diameter* (A)   6.5 in / 165 mm
Grille Tray Outer Diameter (B)   6.84 in / 174 mm
Magnet Outer Diameter (C)   3.15 in / 80 mm
Frontal Coaxial Tweeter Protrusion** (D)   0.45 in / 12 mm
Frontal Grille Protrusion*** (E)   0.85 in / 22 mm
Mounting Hole Diameter (F)   5.56 in / 141 mm
Mounting Depth (G)   2.44 in / 62 mm

So the frame will be exactly the same as the flat area of the speaker mounting area at 6.5".
You are correct the depth is only 2.44" so no problem there.
The grille tray (speaker cover) is 6.84", but that will not matter since it connect to the speaker anyway and not the mounting surface for the speaker.
You should be fine with this set up.  Just measure twice and cut once and you will have a new set of speakers.   ;D

Both will hold the same size speaker as far as diameter.  6.5"
