Vent Window Needs Help

I know some of you have been through this--I"m replacing the seals on my vents. The 1st one isn't going too well. There's rust around the bottom corner of the sash. Has anybody ever fixed this kind of damage? I've been trying to find a new sash or entire vent window without much luck.. The rust goes all the way through, of course..

     OOCH, that does look bad.  I have not run across anyone that just sells the sash part, I do know that a couple sell the whole assy., but they are pricey.  Believe it or not the tinted complete vent windows are cheaper than the non tint vent window assy's.
     If you can not find anything, I can look around where I live for you, I have a couple pick-n-pulls and there is always trucks on craigslist being parted out.

I found one  on  eBay-new GM-    yep-they are mighty pricey. I'm cheap. I'll pass.

Don, what year did you need?  I just got done parting out a 79 C10 and have 2 decent ones.

I've been busy lately but got back to it today. I'm making a repair with JB Weld.

The JB Weld epoxy looks like it's going to work. It's  self-levelling so it filled in the frame pretty good.


After 24 hr drying, a second coat filled in the damage done by the rust. All that's left to do is a bit of sanding and it should be fixed. A little wet finger smoothing helped shape the epoxy.

I have 2 sets of doors if you find you still need one, 85 and 87.  Don't know the condition of the wing windows but the doors are complete and will be scrapped once I get the tinted windows out of the one pair.

I finally got back to the vent. Ready to install when I get back from an out of town trip..new seal installed too. Pretty lousy pic..

     Glad to hear and see that you got it fixed.  The JB Weld did a pretty good job then ?

It seems like a good fix. Trying to clean up the sash with a wire wheel was kinda hard to do because the metal is so thin. But the epoxy filed, sanded, and took paint very well. Shoot, there's nothin to this body work stuff.
