85 c10 control arms
« on: May 02, 2014, 11:15:35 pm »
Hey guys currently doing a frame off resto on my 85 c10.

This is my first project with a 73-87 trucks and parts seem to be very readily available and easily obtained.

One thing I have pondered is why are replacement control arms so expensive on these trucks? Am I missing something?

Right now I am looking at buying them from   for the top ones and Rock Auto for the bottom ones.

Anywhere they sell these cheaper? Not that I am trying to cheap out on the resto but just feel like I am missing something here!

Maybe I am just overthinking!

Thanks!

Are you wanting factory or aftermarket?  What is wrong with the current ones.

Factory or aftermarket, doesn't matter!

Current ones are majorly pitted. Replacing everything.

These are fairly thick parts, as long as they aren't rusted through they should be fine.  Are there none in your local salvage yard?

I've looked at this too, wanting the tubular aftermarket arms but it costs an arm and a leg. I think the most cost effective way in your situation would be go to the junkyard, then buy replacement balljoints and swap them. My arms are still good, but I will probably just buy the balljoints from rockauto.
