Which LS
« on: May 11, 2014, 01:40:24 pm »
Can you guys tell me which LS or LQ will go into an 87 with little to no modifications? I am looking for a good daily driving engine not a race horse.

Thanks

Using dirty dingo mounts, you can clear stock truck accessories, so any truck engine will work and are usually the cheapest. The engine will be forward of the factory position though, so if using stock trans, mount will have to be moved. Some people like dbw, some don't, so that is preference. Dod and vvt are the same, want it or want to simplify it a bit? Even a little 4.8 makes good power, so if its cheap enough, jump on it. Although 6.0 torque is nice.

A LQ is an LS.  both are going to require the same amount of modifications.  Read through my R10 Conversion post..  The plate style mounts generally are setup to put the engine in the same spot.  Cable TB can easily be adapted to the 87...
