Need help identifying some plugs...
« on: May 11, 2014, 09:28:09 pm »
So, this is Frankentruck.  Bought it recently. Appears to be a mix-mash of at least 3 different trucks. The more i dig in to it, the more im discovering the guy i bought it from was sort of a hack, too.  That will take about five different threads to cover though.

EDIT:  I know the rules say to include information about the truck, but im not sure what year the dashboard parts are.  The truck itself (The VIN on the cab, and the title i have) says 1976 GMC K15.  The VIN on the glove box metal doesnt match, and the dash is out of an 80's truck.  The gauges are a mix of 70's and 80's, and it appears to have wiring from both.  It had wiper controls in both places (dash and stalk), but now just the stalk. LOL.

So anyway... I went to yank the gauge bezel off, to sort out a bunch of issues its got (Gas gauge doesnt work at all (supposedly has a new sender, i imagine its just a bad gauge), Speedometer appears to be reading way slow (larger wheels/tires, probably didnt swap the speedo gear, but i have no idea how yet), and a ridiculous radio that had to come out... And i found some harnesses dangling below the dash.

Any idea what this one is?  It has three wires in it: Red, Black/White. and Yellow.

Also... Am i crazy, or isnt the glass supposed to be in a track or something?  Its banging around like all get-out.  Im certain its not installed correctly.

Flux capacitor.

Have you tried to run the wires down?

No, no yet. I just came across them today and thought I'd try here first.

That part number cross-references as a GM Fuel Pump Metering Module or Fuel Pump Cycle Controller, but I can't find it in the wiring diagrams.  I think it is just a relay for the electric fuel pump.  The pink wire is almost  certainly IGN or ignition, on when the key is on.

That picture of your door, it is missing all the felt runners and channel rubber to hold the glass in place.
This site sells kits pretty cheap to fix that, see here.

Woah. Thanks guys. Those are both insanely valuable pieces of information.

The truck has had a weird issue that presents like being either out of gas or extremely flooded. I was driving it twice this week and it just stopped running, then wouldn't start for about 20 minutes. I was thinking it was out of gas (dang gas gauge!) but it doesn't appear to be. I wonder if the wiring is down cuz the seller had the same issue trying to load in on the transport...

I will also head to the store on this sight to find those felt kits. Awesome!!
