Steering column question

Got this steering column but the lower shaft part has gone up inside the column. Can I pull this out or am I screwed?

Got it!! I just kinda figured what's the worst that could happen? I took her to the shop, slapped the column in a bench vice and yanked with all my might! Had to put one foot on the wall and push, almost landed on my face when it popped!
