Axle swap, on v1500 suburban...
« on: June 04, 2014, 11:27:12 pm »
Hello everyone! New to the forum, and collecting the square body Chevys. I recently purchased a nice 1990 v1500 suburban. Got a boat load of miles so most components I am going to go thru and replace with new.

Any way my idea is to do a dually conversion, but do not want to use the current axles under it or use 6-8 lug adapters to make into the dually. I would rather swap axles out from a 3/4 ton and do the conversion that way. I was thinking also of doing a slight lift to it, so I may bump the springs up to 3/4 ton springs as well.

Here is the question, what are the axle numbers that were used under 3/4 Chevys, and what years of axles can work underneath my v1500? Like I said, I'm new to the square body Chevys, so I'm just starting to pick up on what chevy used in their vehicles then. Thanks in advance!!
