Hey guys,
First off thanks for approving lol. I have always had a soft spot for these trucks as it was the only vehicle I remember my dad ever driving lol. So when he passed a few years ago I wanted to get me one.
Recently found an '84 K30 dana 60/14 bolt (4:10 ratio) truck came with a 454/th400 combo with the 205 transfer case. Silverado with everything but AC on it. Black.
I was working in North Dakota when I found it in Utah, the guy said it was all good to go (I know better than to buy vehicles sight unseen but wanted this one lol) so my wife had him deliver it up to Idaho and paid $3400 for it (I know it's high)
I got home and the truck didn't even want to start. I rebuilt the quadrajet, tuned it up, changed all fluids front to back but the engine still missed and had low power, compression ended up being around 90 in two cylinders.
So I sourced a 1997 vortec 454 swapped the carb on it and threw that in and it runs much better now but steering was horrible at best, swapped everything out from steering box to tires. Now it drives much better.

Looking forward to learning from this forum in the certain things that work well on these old trucks.

Welcome from upstate NY.. A good upgrade for your font dana 60 is to replace the upper king pin springs they often can become weak and lead to tire shimmy. I would make sure that you by springs from spicer and you can pick them up right on ebay.

Thanks! Already did the kingpins, she had death wobble something fierce when I first got it, now it's just a slight shimmy (tires I believe) [/img]
