Chop top seating question
« on: June 23, 2014, 08:50:42 pm »
Hey everyone!

I'm looking to get some better seats for my chopped '73 stepside. There is 43" of vertical space (from floor to headliner) and the seats that are in there now have brackets attached. I'm 6-foot and the current arrangement requires me to hunch over to get a decent look of the road.

The seats are trash and I want to get something more comfortable and a lot safer.

Any ideas on what could be a good fit?

Do you want a bench or buckets ?  More than likely with a chop top you will need low back, not high back seats.  I would guess also since you are 6' tall, than you are going to have to make custom seat brackets to lower them, and that depends on if you want sliders or solid mount seats.
This is what I am planning on getting for my truck.  Here is a thread of another member which installed them.

Or you could go this route. You'd probably have to shorten the brackets during the build. I think they look MUCH better than the ones from Summit.
