Toolbox bed I ran across today
« on: July 12, 2014, 12:35:13 am »
I only had my cell phone to take the photos.  The bed was in bad shape and had been made into a trailer.  However, it's still a toolbox bed...

If you look at the trim its a 73-up bed. The early trucks could get them as an option, but, not many did and those that did seem to have gotten pretty rusty pretty quick... I've never seen one in person though.

It's a '73-up, round filler cap bed.

This is only the second or third GM truck toolbox bed that I can recall having seen. The owner said, to the best of his memory, that it was from a '75 Chevrolet heavy-half.

I guess I should've taken a photo of the whole side.  I think I'll have another opportunity to get back out to the place and take a better photo.

Seen a few with these, but they are not a lot of them.   I saw more prior to Cell phone age..  or they are camera shy now.

I was going through some old threads and I saw this one on bedside toolboxes.  I am a 73-87 nut, so if I see a truck with an odd option I try to get it.  Here is an old pic of my 73 GMC with the bedside toolbox option.  Its the only one I have ever seen in real life.  A few years ago I saw a 73 chevy on ebay with one.

Nice. Are the drip rails shaved on that truck or not installed from factory? Looks good.

Thanks,  I know in 73 the drip rails were an option.
