85-89 350TPI and 700-r4 install
« on: March 17, 2005, 11:22:00 pm »
Okay, i'm sure plenty of people have asked, but i'm too excited to remember any of the past posts. SO....I found an 89 IROC-Z with a 350 tuned port and 700-r4 trans. The guy said I could have both, the ECM, and wire harness for $500. First, is this a good deal? Also, how hard is this gonna be to change over from my 350/th350 setup? Any help/tips would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks, guys!

$500 sounds like a deal to me, how many miles are on it?  If you have everything, you just need fuel and power.  You will have to sort out the wiring harness some though.

That joker sold that setup to the next guy that came that had cash. Oh well, it was probably toasted anyway. It ONLY had 146xxx on it. The odometer said 46xxx, but i'm sure from the looks under the hood that it's rolled over once, heck maybe twice. Oh well, the TPI setup alone was worth that, and I could have had the trans. rebuilt. I still plan on swapping in a 700r4, SOON. Aside from moving the trans. crossmember, what else would be neccesary? (vaccum lines, trans. cooling lines to radiator, tv cable hookup). What about the O/D function. My gear shift lever has L1, L2, and D. How would I setup for it to run in O/D? Any help would be apreciated!
