scrap value/weight of aluminum P30 step van/bread truck.

  Any educated guesses of the scrap value/weight of the aluminum 14' body from a P30 step van?
  I found one with a Cummins 4bt/turbo 475 set up. 
  I'd keep the drive train for a future project (I'll probably never get to).
  I'm trying to figure out if its worth the time/effort to pull the aluminum body off the frame, pull out the wiring/glass/seats, and scrap the aluminum. I searched around online and people say the weight of the aluminum is anywhere from 1000-2500 lbs.
  Scraping the body could be a good weekend project, or a complete waste of time & sawzall blades.
  Has anyone done this?

     I scrap on a regular basis at my job.  I do field service work, so I have to bring back all the things I replace.  Aluminum around me right now is going for about .65/lb.  (last time I checked about 3 weeks ago)
     So if you get 1000 lbs at .65lbs equals $650.00.  Is that worth it to you, THERE IS AN APP FOR THAT  , called iscrapapp, or you can go to their website  www.iscrapapp.com.

i'm thinking the van should not be scrapped if it's all aluminum---still too useful---people around here would pay good $$$ for it for use as a food truck which are a big thing around here.    Maybe take the drivetrain out and put a cheap 305/350 combo in there.

   Bake74. Thanks for the info. I scrap a lot of cars myself. A yard I deal with said 60 cents a pound. Im just not sure of how much aluminum I will have.
   Blazin, it was your post awhile back about the 4bt in a squarebody that got me thinking how cool these motors can be in our trucks.
  Stewart, I agree its a shame to cut it up, but then again, I've cut up a bunch of nice trucks. I've always found the cheapest way to get the parts you want (in this case the 4bt & trans adapter) is to buy a complete running vehicle, and sell of the rest. I wanted this particular model because it has the turbo 400 adapter.
  There is a dealer near me selling  a fleet of Grumman step vans with 4bt's & standard trans for $3k each.  I don't think I could get 2k for this one with a 305/350 in it. If I can get 1k iin scrap I would be happy.
  I just went to look at it. It runs great. Starts right up when cold (I asked the owner not to warm it up before I got there). I let it warm up then pulled the oil cap, there was no blow by.
  Its to big for my  trailer & the brakes are a little soft for me to drive it home (25 miles).  The seller said he will deliver it to me tomorrow (its still registered in His name). I'll let you know tomorrow if it shows up.

I would love to find a good running 4BT/standard transmission in my neck of the woods.  I would use the rest as a rolling parts shed.
