Dana 60 wobble

Well the crew cab drives good. Don't have the wobble all the time just when I hit the brakes. But its not every time or just on hard braking. One time I was getting off the highway making a right turn but before I turned right the whole truck shakes like a earthquake. Once I slowed stopped she stopped. Then I was braking while making a left turn in the road but it was on a bumpy road and was only a Slight bend but almost lost control over it. Its not lifted, haven't really looked at anything yet be first thing in the am. Thinking king pin but its weird its only under braking

  My Dana 60 had the death wobble going over bumps, not while braking.
  Check out my post in the  4 wheel drive sections.
  The members here including yourself,  Bake 74,  Ehjorten, BD, Engineer, And Pholliday1 walked me through the   repair
  In my case it ended up being the tierod.
  Since the repair this truck has been my daily driver.
  I'm sure others will chime in shortly and Lead you in the right direction

Unevenness in the brake rotor surface and any pulsing of the front brakes can accentuate the wobble or start it.

Yeah I remember yours fitz its just the braking that's getting me. It just seams if it was   warpped rotors then it would be all the time idk

Well might have "fixed" the wobble. Jerry rigged the kingpin springs by adding a 1/8" washer on top of the springs on each side. Took it for a good drive on some back country roads and didn't have it wobble once. The drives side bushing looked OK but the spline that's on it was worn to the point it wasn't there. So going to order two rebuild kits in a couple days

yup! new Kingpin springs will go along way. I'm betting your old ones are whooped. The springs on top of the kingpins actually loose spring rate over time ("everything droops with age" saying) They make a cap that replaces the factory one with a threaded stud and flat washer that pushes down on the existing spring to create more preload. the stud then has a locking nut to keep the down force applied.

Didn't have new ones to compair the old ones to. But the washer either fixed the slack in the spring or the caps were worn or weak due to the rust. Does the air force put hitches on the front of the trucks or is this a civilian thing?

The washers increase the preload by putting more force on the spring, you faked out the axle it thought it had new springs lol. Spring are a good start but usually its a combination of things to include tie rod ends drag link etc. And don't add more steering stabilizers that's just a band aid. If your components are functioning properly you should only need one stabilizer. I run 40" rubber crossover steering and just ONE stabilizer.

You know I'm on a facebook group for our trucks. If I have a question I won't even think about posting on there cause one good thing out our page is you don't have to worry about people posting things they have no knowledge of. You get real help here, not just know it alls.

When I had 18.5/44-16.5 Gumbo Mudders on 16.5x14 wheels I had only the factory steering stabilizer (read: not a fancy off road type) and never had wobble issues.

So to echo what pholliday said, if you need more than one steering stabilizer you are 1) masking other problems. 2) stuck in the 80s and need pink shock boots and KC light covers. 3) driving a Ford.

i already changed tires nothing drastic but took them off my 84 k30 prob a couple inches taller but they are good not like the ones on it. what you cant see in the pictures is there is a hole on the drivers side rocker and passengers side cab corner. floor also is a tad rusty. have to take the floor mat up to see it doesnt feel like its a big hole but there is a patch someone put down.

there is also a spot behind the passengers side rear fender thats has rust bubbles under the paint. the floor of the bed where water would splash up from the rear tires looks like its about shot. the only thing about this truck is you can watch the fuel gauge go down lol but who gets these trucks for mpgs anyway???

I had it real bad for a while. Did kingpin springs and bushings and made it better for a few months, everything else felt good but my tie rods ended up being bad too. They felt tight to check them but once they were off I could feel binding and flat spots in them. Been great ever since
