What's behind your seat..?
« on: October 08, 2014, 03:35:59 pm »
Looking for ideas for organizing the area of the cab behind the seat. Looking for your input on what to have, how to store/install it. Anyone seen a truck of our kind that has been used in a military/police/security/fire capacity? I'd imagine they'd have a sturdy setup for equipment.

Rough Ideas:

Items:
Flash Light
Fire Extinguisher
Firearm
Med Kit
Trash Container
Tools
Ice-Scraper/Squeegee
Oil/Trans Fluid

Interior Body:
OEM Panelboard (what I have now)
Caged/Custom

Mods:
12V Cig Socket
USB Power Socket
Custom wired holster for LED FL charging
Rifle Rack
FE bracket
Small Safe

So, what's behind your seat? What's your setup? Any pics?
Where do things attach, weld, wire or screw into, and what's the proper way of going about it?

No arrangement as of yet, but off the top of my head, here is what is currently behind the seat of my truck, in no particular order:

1 Qt Oil
1 Qt ATF
Slim Jim
24" Nail Bar
3lb Sledge Hammer
entrenching tool
14' Tow Rope
Jumper Cables
Sweat Pants
3 pair gloves
Spare Hat
canvas bag full of Tie-Down Straps
4-way Lug Wrench
Flashlight
Multi-Screwdriver
8'x10' tarp
roll of Duct Tape
can of WD40
Ice Scraper
can of De-Icer
Gun Rack
Musket
Fishin Rod
Fire Extinguisher
2 6x9 speakers
roll of paper-towels
couple rags
funnel
couple different sized ropes

The musket doesn't usually stay there, everything else does though...

I worked for a landscape company a few summers back and the whole fleet is '77-'86 trucks (still is amazingly) and every truck had these bolt in racks behind the seats that were made specifically for our trucks. They definitely weren't new pieces, but they fit a ton of our tools and other stuff.

Behind my seat though? Tow strap, jumper cables, machete, tool kit, blanket, matches. I need nothing else.

A blanket over the subs and box to cushion against the back of the seat

Fire extinguisher

My CUCV M1028 Military truck has this ax/pick/shovel kit behind the seat.
It also has riffle holders behind the seat for the driver &  passenger.

Subwoofer, couple rags, roll of paper towels, short length of rope, good walking shoes, shoe cleats (for ice), couple orange vests (for in the woods during hunting season), windshield shade, ball cap, pair of work gloves.  During the winter I throw a set of jumper cables and a logging chain in the bed under the tonneau cover.

Very cool fitz. Got me Googling some pictures..  IR lamps, Chem Agent Alarm, Decon bottles..  neat.  ;D

Does your truck have a "blackout lights" system? How do the riffle holders work without the seat or your head pressing against them or the riffles? I certainly don't like horizontal weapon racks. Just doesn't strike me as very safe. Vertical is good. I'd have some of those patrol-car weapon racks in between my seats if I had bucket seats.

BTW, don't know if it interests you or not, but try going over to candlepowerforums and look up the the 1KW Tank Light.  ;)

Yes, my truck does have a fully functional blackout light system.  You can see the lights in the bumpers.
I've never used the riffle holders.
