New go kart

Hey all. Just got a new to me toy. Family friends had a go kart for long time, used to run, been sitting for years, I live in the country so they decided I could take it and see if I can get it running and working again. Needs some work but nothing different really from the trucks, just smaller and easier lol. It has adjustable coil over shocks too!
It needs all new rubber hoses, I took the parking brake apart to fix, was busted. Also needs a new battery, flush out the gas tank, new spark plug, plug wire, oil change, drain/fill of the trans/differential unit. The biggest issue is, the drive shaft that has the small sprocket for the chain sheared off at the external face of the diff housing. So it needs a new drive shaft. Other than that it should be pretty easy to get it goin again.
I'm thinking about doin a little mods on it, maybe small LED off road lites, bed liner the floor pan, I don't know yet.
Ideas and suggestions are welcome. It's a 2 seater Tomberlin CrossFire 150.
Sorry no pics yet, I have them, but it says they are to large to upload and i don't know how or if I can resize them on my phone. If anyone Googles it, it's red and yellow.

Love the project... I working on a "go-kart" (man-kart) with a buddy we got a CBR 600 engine for power boost! Original engine had 9hp. Does your kart still have the original engine?

Yep all original. I plan on either building it up with a cylinder, stroker crank, new cam, ported cylinder head, intake and exguast OR buying a complete built engine with some kind of warranty or what not. Haven't decided yet. Aside from my truck, this will be my toy.

Here's an update, she still don't run.
First issue, needs new battery, got that completed along with new battery terminals.
Second problem, engine cranks won't start, no fuel to carb, drained and removed fuel tank and filter, direct line to carb with a rubber hose and funnel with gas, no start. Bypass fuel line completely, starter fluid down the intake, no run either. Ok time to check for spark.
Third problem, no spark, plug looks ok, coil and wire not so good, plug terminal on inside of plug boot broken off. Wiring for engine has lights and such tied in. Gonna have to break out the wiring diagrams and make sure all is present and secure and clean.
Problem four, I accidently broke the fuel shut off valve of the bottom of the tank, oopps lol.
Did a compression check, almost 150 and sounds ok while cranking so I'm gonna say for now that compression is fine.
SO, next is too remove and clean or rebuilt carb, check out and verify proper electrical contacts. New parts will include spark plug, hi output coil/wire, carb rebuilt kit, output shaft for trans, trans side cover gaskets, fuel shutoff valve/in - tank filter, and what ever electrical do - dad's are needed if any.
Or maybe just a new built up engine haha.

Ordered some parts today, output shaft and needed seals, new hi output coil, spark plug, oil filter kit, fuel shut off valve, enough parts to fix the obviously broken parts. I'll replace them when they come in next week and see if she runs then!

Nice. That sucks. I hope this will run again. I rode it years ago when it wasn't mine but it's been so long I don't remember how it feels or sounds or the power output. If this motor won't run then it's getting a swap with at least a 400cc. I kinda wanna put a small diesel in it if I could find the right setup.

Got the go kart running tonight! It will go as long as you don't let it idle cuz then it dies. But other then that it runs like a poo flingin monkey! I had to put the seat belt on cuz I was getting thrown around driving like a destruction derby! Haha that things more fun then a 3 legged dog at a sack race. I was flying around the yard doin donuts and drifting and tossing gravel.
My yards got more tire tracks then the Indianapolis motor speedway LOL. The parking brake and regular brakes both don't work. I floored it a couple times and it got all squirrely! (Note to self, keep throttle off idle and don't go wide open in small areas.) Then my brother hopped in and we were doing all kinds of crazy moves and a did about 2 donuts and the right rear tire popped off the rim! Not a big deal though cuz I was mashing this thing with the right rear and left front tires both flat as a board.
I had it up on jack stands and was cleaning the carb again earlier tonight. Once I saw it wanted to run when you had your foot on the pedal I slapped the tires back on and started my maniac rampage in the front yard. Now I got grass all over the back of the seat and the floor boards. Was a total blast and I felt like I was 6 years old again!
