Carb leaking gas at fuel filter? Help
« on: June 30, 2006, 07:33:00 pm »
I have replaced the fuel filter in my 85 chevy 4barrel and now it leaks where the big nut screws in, the line doesn't leak. It had teflon tape on it and I have now clue if there is supposed to be a gasket there or what? Please help. thanks.

There should be a large gasket on the nut .I believe its either a hard compsite or metal.Teflon tape should not be required.

There should be a gasket if the filter looks like this-

You can put gasket sealer on the threads to help seal them.

You have to have a slavage yard somewhere near you.  Just go to any mid 70's to mid 80's gm v8  product and you will more than likely find an edelbrock quadrajet.  Just take one off of one of those.
