87 K10 auto to manual swap?
« on: November 21, 2014, 11:45:20 am »
I'm looking into  buying an 87 k10. The only issue is that it's automatic and I would really like to swap it to a manual. It has a 305 in it. Anyone have an experience with how hard of a trans swap that is? i know the normal stuff like needing to get a master and slave in and adding the 3rd pedal and cutting the floor to make room for the shifter. But what about any necessary adapters? special pilot bearing or new flywheel ect

Find a donor and get all the parts
If you want the 4 speed granny dump truck trans

Although the only thing you really need is the pedals
If you want a modern 5 speed
Everything else will have to come from different trucks

You able to do the swap yourself ?
It will be really expensive to pay a shop to convert it

Make sure that the driver's side of your block has the bolt hole for the clutch arm linkage before you get to involved unless you are going to use a hydraulics clutch.
