Spare tire mount
« on: December 17, 2014, 06:14:12 pm »
I have a 1981 Scottsdale and the spare tire is just thrown in the back of the bed. Does anyone have pics of the spare tire mount under the bed, with and/or without the spare tire?

I have two trucks both with under bed spare mounts.  I will take a picture in the morning for you if no one posts one by then

You can also use a newer one with the winch cable deal from any modern pickup SUV or van

Someone please post a picture of the old school out west spare tire mounted on the front bumper half blocking the radiator. We all could use a good laugh :))

I don't know if it's welded in or bolted in
But every SUV and  minivan and pickup from the last 20 years has a winch cable deal

usually it's inside the hatch at the very bottom
Sometimes it's just above the bumper on the outside
Small hole you stick the jack handle in and turn the winch

i think there was a thread here where someone adapted a windup unit off of a lumina mini-van.  i don't have time to look for it though.

i think pugsy 123 may have adapted a wind up unit from a lumina minivan to the underside of the bed.  But like i said, i don't have time to look for it right now.
