AC TO NON AC RESISTOR SETUP/WIRING QUESTION
« on: December 27, 2014, 02:24:25 am »
I removed all the AC components from my 1986 C10 and added an aftermarket AC delete plate.

My resistor was bad so I purchased a NON AC one (much shorter and lower profile), but noticed there is only 3 male ends on the resistor as compared to the AC resistor which has 4.  Can I use the NON AC resistor and if the answer is yes, then what is the wire setup and what is this extra wire on the AC resistor plug???

Lastly, do I really need to run the rubber 3/4" hose from the back of the blower motor to the AC delete box???

Not sure about the plugs and wires. The rubber hose on the blower motor does a few things, 1) it aids in keeping the motor cool by allowing the air to circulate back over the motor 2) the circulation of the air not only in the cab but also thru the heater box stops the air from becoming moldy and beginning to stink 3) it looks incomplete if not used.

GM has been and still uses this air circulation idea in its new cars.

Thanks!  That confirms the circulation hose.  Just need to locate a wiring schematic for the non ac version resistor wiring.

Look in the tech section of the forum. Should be there.
