83 k10 bbc swap questions

As you may of seen im looking to swap a 7.4l vortec into my 83 3/4 ton k10. This is my first rodeo with swapping engines. Right now the truck has a sb 400 with a 4 speed and granny low. Im looking to put a 7.4 vortec out of a 96 k2500. Does anybody know if this will drop in without moving motor mounts? What would be tge best 5 or 6 speed manual to put behind it? I would like opinions on this. I want to keep the fuel injection. And i do not want an automatic.

1)It should drop right in. No moving the motor mounts. Bell housing is the same as well.

2)Use the steel "clam shells" from the Vortec engine on your rubber frame side motor mounts and then your fan should line up with the big block fan shroud. (You'll have to source one. Your small block shroud won't work, nor will the '96 truck's).

3)Reuse your 400SB radiator.

4)If using a manual trans behind the Vortec 7400 you will need a flywheel specifically for that engine. External balance, one piece rear main seal.

5)You should be able to use the Vortec exhaust manifolds. If going headers use Hooker headers. Ignore the rest, especially Hedman Hedders.

As far as the fuel injection I can't help you there. But I can say make sure to get the ECM, and wiring harness.

Only thing I can add to that is definitely get the complete harness from the donor and anything attached to it including the driveshaft if you can.
Making the EFI work is just a matter of wiring it is.  If you want to go the easy (expensive ) route there are companies that make stand along harnesses for them.
