I did the headliner in my 76 GMC about 10 years ago and it's still holding up well.  I used the original headliner backing 'board' (foam, fiberglass, whatever it's made out of), some 3M spray glue, and bought some foam-backed fabric headliner material at a local Hancock's Fabric.  It may start to sag or come apart tomorrow, but it worked well for me.

Good luck with your project.

If you are not up to it, we have replacement headliners in the store for sale.

Do these headliners have any kind of sound dampening or insulation?

That looks really good, thanks for the picture. As soon as I'm done addressing the operational issues my truck has I'm getting one!

I used to work at an auto interior shop years back. Be really careful with a nylon bristle brush. Don't push just move it back and forth to get the old rotted material off. Best thing to do is leave a 3/4" to 1" material around the edges to wrap and glue to the backside of the foam board. Spray the glue and wait a couple of minutes to let it get tacky then lay the material down. With good 3M spray glue we were able to give people 2 year warranties. Good luck and post after pictures!

Question for you headliner experts.. My foam headliner in my Suburban is "bowing" like dipping down in one area. Is there any way for me to fix this or do I have to buy  a new pad
The bottom line has dropped
