When I put the B&M shift kit in mine, I did some research: it seems the B&M kit is pretty hard on the trans. Following online advice (search for "Jake Shoe") I did not disable the 1-2 accumulator, I did not remove any check balls, and I only drilled the supplied separator plate holes 0.125" (plate blocks the 2-3 accumulator), and I used the supplied dual feed (gold) plate.
