Ball Joints on an 87 1/2 ton 2wd
« on: January 31, 2015, 09:23:30 pm »
I need too change the lower ball joints on my truck. In the manual they show a ball joint separator that looks to be a long nut and bolt .that pushes the ball joint out of the spindle. will that same tool push the ball joint out of the lower control arm or will it be necessary to remove the arm and press out the old ball joint?

Yea, I would go and rent one , what I am seeing in the picture is the spindle looks like it has been removed and the upper control arm must be tied out of the way

a picture is worth a thousand words : Because the book tells you to remove the spring and the lower control arm and have it pressed out.
So if I flip the clamp I suppose I can install the new one

Thanks for the reply
