90s bed on 86?
« on: February 16, 2015, 05:34:57 pm »
I was wondering if anyone has any advice on replacing an 86 chevy k10 short bed with a 90s short bed? I'm pretty sure it's possible but how difficult?

Never seen it on a square body but I know that 90s short bed step sides fit perfectly on the 67-72 trucks, the body lines match like perfectly. I've never done it but seen it done more times then I can imagine.

They look like crap when this is done.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

Well if a moderator can say it..

I personally think putting a truck box onto a truck and change generations and body lines just ruins a truck. New stepside boxes on older trucks just looks wrong.

Now, CDog86, you have heard a few members opinions on this. So before this thread gets hijacked lol, it's really up to you.

I'm sure there's got to be pictures on the internet somewhere of this being done, if that's what you want, we can help. If not, that's ok too.

Yes the shapes and body lines are completely different and so is a bunch of other stuff but it's your truck, do what you want.

Haven't done it (don't really like it since the body/fenderlines don't match) but it will require some sort of modification as to mounting it as the newer ones bolt from the bottom up.
