vandura with a vengence....
« on: March 11, 2015, 02:05:42 am »
Hi everyone,
Last december i bought an old vandura, Since i have the van
I had alot of setbacks with the engine. Starting with a seized engine on the wat home. So i got an old engine but a 350 with carb from an old caprice. Since the van was made in 79 i figured it was OK. But when starting tot pull the seised engine out i discovered they have replaced it for a 305 tbi along the way. So im converting the 350 also tot tbi with parts from the old engine. So now i have almost everything done appart from the 350 specific parts, like injectors, sensors but i'm having trouble finding the ECM eprom and injectors. I live in Holland and its tough finding the here for a reasonable price. So as the tbi is from 87 with no link to the tranny. I was wondering if i just cant get a eprom from the electronic store and flash it with the binary file so thats out of the way. Sadly the 305 eprom didnt survive staking it out the module and two connector pins broke off. Is there a solution. I'm on a tight budget.
Thx outfront for the help

my advice: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MegaSquirt yes if you know the eprom it is and have a eprom writer.for the money I got mega squirt and you will have a tuneable system for about $150 last time I looked.

other wise e-bay.

Thank you for the info Mariah, only issue is that if i buy something in the US( even de us based ebay) to take your example the megasquirt eprom for 150$ that price will be doubled sometimes even trippled due to shipping and importtaxes. so eventually that thing would cost me between 300 and 400€ when i get it deliverd. i seen on google that some convert the old eprom to the newer more workable eeprom with electronic erase function. they also wrote what eeprom number you need to get and witch connectors need to be jumped(i believe the last 4) those will cost me 5€/eeprom, just need to get a programmer, binaries and understanding the maps.
But foremost i'm glad theres at least a way to get my hands on one. for some reason the 87-91 style ecm's are verry rare here, most you come across are 93 and up with transmission link.(i still have the older non electro th400 tranny).

where 8/10 you pay roughly the same as importing it yourself. i seen that enough before, last was for a 2010 (sorry)ford f series harley that lost a hubcap. i'mporting it myself was 20€ cheaper. but all costs payed it came about 170€ delivered where i payd 70$ for it on ebay
