Did you cut and buff the lower grill panel?

Did you do any extra work to the spray paint section?  That probably has a small effect on appearance too

Did you cut and buff the lower grill panel?

I really didn't do any work to the lower grill panel. All I did was wash it, rough it up with some 400 grit sand paper, wiped it with paint thinner, and then sprayed on two coats of spray paint. There's scratches and pits that should have been filled with spot putty but I cut that corner.

I thought it would be more hidden underneath the from bumper than it is, I thought that it wouldn't be as visible as it is. That's why I didn't pay much attention to it. I may remove it and give it some more love.

Man that turned out looking sharp! Nice work! I followed this thread from day one and it inspires me to potentially want to fix some of the paint issues on my truck! If yours can turn out that nice, then there's potentially hope for mine! Lol!

Thanks guys! I really appreciate the kind words!

Yes the paint looks really good, especially in those photos where the sun had set. But in full sunlight, it's a lot more obvious that it's cheap paint with no clear coat. Like in this pic below:

Looks just as fine in that pic too, I'd be plenty happy with how it turned out.

Btw you may have already said it and I missed it but did you have to do anything special to put the 70s front clip on the 80s cab? I know there's a few minor differences in the 70s/80s cabs.

This turned out to be a sharp looking truck that will turn heads driving through town.
While I can appreciate a slick base coat/clear coat paint job laid down by a body shop, this paint job shows an affordable alternative that most of us could perform in our driveways.
Great job documenting your work.
