Door lock

I recently switched my door skin and am now having a issue with the lock. When I go to unlock the door with a key the key feels like it's going to break when I turn it (doesn't unlock door). But if I push the handle to "open" the door first it unlocks fine. What could be causing this?

I'd like to know the answer to this one as well, all the sudden, my rear barn door lock on my Suburban just wouldn't turn with the key to lock anymore... hosed it down with WD-40, sprayed it out, still nothing. And the keys work in all the other locks.

You might want to check your latching mechanism and grease it.

i know on my crew cab if i lock one of the rear doors sometimes i cant unlock it unless i pull button on the outside handle out just a tad and it will allow me to unlock it. havnt tore into it to see what the problem could be so i cant help you there

Should I just use like a lithim based grease? Or a graphite

imo grease tends to attract dirt. i like graphite, but cant for sure if dirt will stick to as bad as grease

Use white lithium grease aerosol spray available from GM as Lubriplate Spray Lube 'A', or CRC 5037, or Permatex 81981, or 3M 08875, etc, to lube the latch mechanism.  Use dry graphite in the lock cylinder if it is totally clean, dry and in good condition; otherwise use Tri-Flow.
