Stoplamp Switch Question
« on: April 26, 2015, 03:16:08 pm »
Rookie Question:

'75 C10

How does the stoplamp switch work?....is the switch depressed when the pedal is in it's normal position and then released when the brake pedal is pushed?  The manual does not make this distinction clear (see attached image).  I recently changed my vac brake booster to a Hydroboost unit.  Rod lengths from the two units are the same.  I, carelessly, did not take note of the stoplamp switch position before removing the bracket and booster rod.  When I reassembled everything, I noticed that the stoplamp switch is depressed when the pedal is at rest and that the bracket releases the stoplamp switch button when I push the pedal down.  I can't see any other possible way to install the bracket such that the switch is released when the pedal is at rest and then depressed when the pedal is pushed to brake.

The manual page (pg 341) below is from the '74 manual....since the '75 manual seems to be just supplemental to the '74.  My pedal, booster rod, switch, and bracket look like the "G Model" image in Fig 95.  It did not have a spring or floor pan boot assembly like the image in Fig 94.

Thank you in advance for your help...

**for some reason I can't post the attachment file.  I'll try to update the post with the image asap....assuming there's something goofy going on with the system.  Until then, feedback is still welcome.

That's correct.  It should be depressed in the pedal rest position.
