Helicoil issue

My starter hole was stripped and i installed a helicoil, now the helicoil tool is stuck inside on the helicoil and will not budge, i could buy an inline starter but would like to know how to remove it, thanks jimmy

Generally, the tool just unscrews.  Did you drill and tap the stripped hole to the proper size and depth and then clean the threads before installing the insert?

Yes, should i try tapping it to snap the tang then pulling it out

The 'tang' is designed to engage the end of the tool while tightening, only.  Banging on the end of the installation tool while still in the hole is not likely to benefit you and may make your predicament worse.  If you forced the tool into the hole too hard while turning the insert, it may have stretched the insert and jumped a thread, effectively causing the coil to crossthread.  Did you coat the coil with Loctite before you installed it?

How should i go about getting the tool out then

I dont have any clue how to post pictures but all your gonna see is a rod going into the block, you cant see the coil.

3/8"?  And, was it tight going in?

Yes and it went in easy just like the other one i did

Jimmy, based on what you've posted thus far ...properly drilled, tapped and cleaned the hole, 3/8" (steel) installer that threaded the coil in easily... unscrew the tool.  If you applied Loctite to the coil before installation (a question you never answered), the tool maybe tight coming out, but it will come out.

I did not use loctite. The tool will not budge at all when i try to unscrew it
