84 C-10 wiring/turn signal issues
« on: May 24, 2015, 12:07:47 pm »
Hi, I just picked up a 84 short bed. Drove it home and the turn signals worked fine, got in it the next day and the turn signals are no longer working front or rear. The tail lights, headlights, and reverse lights work and the front hazards work but the brake lights, rear hazards do not come on. The bulbs all look good, fuses are good. I am not for sure what I should be looking for to help diagnose the issue. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Your flasher unit may be the problem.  There are 2, one for your emergency 4 ways and the other for turn signals

Make sure the turn signal switch is completely plugged into the wiring harness connector alongside the steering column under the dash.

It was the switch not being completely plugged in. Must of vibrated loose I will have to keep a eye on that to see if it becomes a common occurrence.

Thanks again

Anyone have a pic of what I would be looking for? My rear signals aren't working either but bulbs are good, fuses good all other lights seem fine. I will get some flasher after work tomorrow but I may be able to check this plug if the hail ever stops here.

it should be mounted on the side of the steering column with 8+ (cant remember how many my 79 had) wires coming out depending on the year. and they will be inline not a block looking pigtail. once you see it you will know
