New here and have 2 question's

Hello everyone. I am new to this board. I been reading for some time but now I need help. First, I have a 1984 3/4 ton with a 454,just lettin you know I am a chevy man. I am getting ready to paint my truck, apple red and white and it's enamal and the primmer is a filler. I use to paint along time ago and use to mix by how many drip's from the stick, used to stir it. They gave me the ratio's to mix it but I liked the drip test cause it seem's to work for me. Does anyone know the drip test for paint and primmer. Sherman william's make's the paint I don't know about the primmer. I was shocked when they told me paint was $65.00 a quart, that's how long it's been. 2nd question. My truck is rust free but my can corner's had some rust and after grinding, turned into small hole's. I don't have the time to replace the corner's due to needing truck for work. I used fiberglass to repair with and bondo just to smooth it out. What I need to know is there a way to access behind these corner's so I can tar or undercoat the crap out of it so water don't attack this area. I tried looking but can only figure that I might have to drill some hole's which I don't want to do. Thank's and I will say this is a great forum. I will post more someplace else. Some might like how I put a 454 in and used all the small block bracket's, even for the air conditioning. Thank's again

Inside the cab, behind the seat in the corners, there should be a whole that leads down to inside the cab corners. I have no inner cab corners so i had to fill this area in with foam to keep the weather out.

I'm working on an `87 and just finished replacing both cab corners. My cab doesn't have holes inside leading to the lower part of the corners. There is body caulk on all seams behind the seats. Underneath the floor level there was what used to be a inner corner or deflector to keep the crap out. Check to make sure you have an inner rocker and corner sheild present, without both, my guess is you wont have cab corners for too long.

Theres no need for inner rockers and cab corners, just extra weight and more welding, plus more stuff to rott out.

The inners are there for a reson. They keep things stiff, without them constant getting in and out the rocker starts to move around and the things start comming unglued. For a beater leaving them out is fine I wouldn't rcomend it for a nice ride. If you look behind the seat and around the door post you will see where the floor is welded to the back of the cab and the cab corner / inner door post area. Between them there is a small hole where the floor jumps from one to the other leaving a 45 degree triangle shaped opening. If you get under the truck and your inner cab corners are still intact the is a factory plug in them. Pop it out and you will probaly find them full of dirt etc. Go up top and blow the crap out with an extension on you blow gun. Then spray in some sort of rust inhibitor and or undercoating from the top and the bottm. As far as the mix on the paint most automotive piant mixing buckets have ratios printed on them 4 to 1, 2 to 1, etc. Or for example if it is 4 to 1 mark out 5" or 10" on the stir stick fill it to the 4" or 8" marks with paint and top of to the 5" or 10" marks with reducer. As far as activator it should say so many ounces to a gallon of paint say 16 ounces to a gal 8 to a 1/2 gal.etc. Most actiavtors have a 4 ounce overcap so fill it once , twice, three times etc. Hope this helps, Harold.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs
