anybody used that do it yourself bedliner stuff?

I have seen bedliner stuff for bout 40.00 per gallon. they sell a little texture roller kit ot apply it.  has anyone tried it?  it doesnt catalyze, so I am leary.....

I have used the herculiner and liked it, but last night I checked out the sem do it your self spray on liner in a budy of mines Dakota. It looks like a much better product. About $150 for the kit.

the stuff I have seen is on the shelf at autozone and walmart.  It doesnt appear to be catalized, and it also comes in spray cans for the the corners..... its about 40$ for a gallon.....  I painted my inner bedsides, tubs and tailgate body color so they look nice, I currently have a rubber bed mat, cause though I am lowered and shaved, I still use it like a truck occasionally. I didnt paint the floor cause the matt covered it and I'm a miserly SOB!
now Im thinking this stuff may finish it off..... just dont want to slather it on  (I have an old undercoat sprayer that should work fine) if it aint any good....

Are you talking about Dupli Color? I have used that a few years back on a budy of mines truck, I was not impressed at all. It didn't hold up well at all. I sprayed it on a Dodge frame after I sand blasted it and primed it with selfetching primer, that held up pretty good. The spray bomb version works good for blacking out wheel wells and such after paint,holds up better than undercoat.

yes, thats the stuff...  sounds like your werent too impressed.... I guess it is one of those, you get what you pay for type of situations....  I will keep my bed matt in the floor, so maybe I'll try it and see.

Another budy of mine is puting a fiberglass tub on his   CJ-5 and he bought Bondo brand, I poped the can open last night, it looks to me like thin roofing tar or realy thick paint no grit at all. The Herculiner is very rough, like if you fell on it you would have road rash, but it dulls down with the sunlight. The Sem isn't what I would call rough but more textuered like a ABS plastic drop in liner, but the UV rays don't make it dull and flat looking. Where as these are both urethane based products, I'm thinking of doing my truck with the Herculiner then spraying the Sem over it!

Got a gallon of Herculiner from a close out store for $15, spent an afternoon sanding my bed rough with 80 grit sandpaper, cleaned it out with denatured alcohol, and then rolled it in with a normal paint roller (like for walls and such) put one coat in the first day another coat in the second day and that was it. If you mask something off remove the tape while the liner is wet or else it will geive you a jagged edge.

I have always looked at the DIY bedliners. The Dupli-color cans are great for the price. But are about the lowest grade bedliner. I did it to my truck, looked great, but didn't hold up great. We just did it to my friends truck, looks even more great. But it's wearing off fast. But I have wondered if you could add stuff to it to make it more reliable. Like add sand, or or mix some Elmers Glue in with it. Something to just make it stronger and/or rougher.

I used the stuff from wal-mart for my cab floor and around the edges seems to work great and it reduces noise. I think it would suck if you used it on a bed because it took the whole gallon just to get a decent coating.  I used the spray can duplicolor for blacking out my firewall it has a smooth texture and I think it would word better than rubberized undercoating

I used the SEM spray in liner in a F 250 Super Duty a few day ago. You need a Rocker Shutz gun to apply it. It worked slick and looks good. Looks prety rugged, I still sugested a rubber mat which he bought and put in.

I tried the Bondo brand liner yesterday, It sucked to apply, one gallon was not enough as the box said. I would not recomend it to anyone. I used it because that is what the customer brought me last minute after I painted his 87 K20.
