I got the undercoat finished.

Not the best job ever, but better than before, and I can always touch it up later.

Gas tank is done!

I found and fixed a leak in my way-too-fancy AN fittings.

The truck posted up some pretty impressive smog results.

The turkeys were so impressed they stopped by to pay their respects.

Have a happy Friday everyone!

Painted the driveline tonight.

I remember when I was a kid and guys would lift their trucks real high, then paint candy stripes down their drivelines. This is my homage to them.

I was having some driveline vibration (http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=39769.0) so I pulled it and replaced the u-joints. The beautiful thing is back in now and the vibration is gone.

I also painted inside my cluster to improve, hopefully, my gauge illumination. I'm not sure if it did anything yet.

Does anyone know if these TBI intakes are any good? Mine sprang a coolant leak and I'm wondering if I should consider an aftermarket manifold instead?

This guy needs a new home.

So all of this has to go.

I'm trying to get this mess cleaned up.

I thought it was the timing cover, and since I have to drain the coolant to remove it, it seems right to re-do the cooling system while I have it apart.

I don't see much mess from the timing cover, but I did find this. Which looks a lot like the intake is leaking coolant. If so, I wonder if I should upgrade that too.

Probably time to do something about this too.

Maybe tune up the battery tray.

If someone can tell me where to get an air hose, I'll replace it too.

And I have no idea where to find these.

If I'm this far in, I might as well paint the radiator core support too.

Now that it's to this point, 17 things come up that pull me away from the project. Of course.

My "new" AC compressor is rusting too. What is it, 6 months old? SMH

That cosmic law that decrees "the moment you render a vehicle inoperable, 17 things will catch fire immediately and prevent all further progress" is still firmly in force.

Good grief.

At any rate, I was able finally to get a little painting done. Saturday night. In the dark.

It's a gearhead Christmas tree!

Forty degrees, 93% humidity and pitch dark. The perfect time for painting!

This spacer is broken on my accessory mount. Anyone know where I can get another?

My battery tray was a rusty mess.

...With this broken tab.

I gave it to my nephew to weld up the tab, and this happened!

It's a beauty now!

I just love SEM Trim Black paint.

I pulled out my heater box to replace the heater core. I managed to break a rare part during disassembly. Went to the junkyard for it and scored a much better box off of a '78(?). It said '88 on the side, but it had round headlights. It's all cleaned up and painted now and ready for reassembly.

The most beautiful heater box.

...that no one will ever see.

I painted it more to stop all the rust than to make it look nice.
