Question on stock rims/hubcaps...

Was it common for the plain steel 5 lug 15x6 rims to be white on the c-10's in the 70's, or were most gray/silver?  Anyone have any factory stock pics of these w/the hubcaps?

I just bought a like new mint cond. set of 4 white stock rims and 4 shiny new all gm chevy factory hubcaps for under 200.  I am wondering if I should keep them white or paint them the GM gray/silver color.

As far as I know and have seen in the GM books and all the books I've collected about the 73-87 if it was a stock steel wheel taking a hubcap they were white.  In 1988 they changed it to a silver color and no longer offered the dog dish caps on the next gen C/K series.  I can't recall if the R/V series after 1987 changed or not on the crew cabs, burbs or blazers.

Mine were brown---same color as truck.   i painted them white though because i like the looks of it better.  Also i was trying to cover up some surface rust.

Ok, this following post reminded me that the spare was white, but the 4 wheels that were on the truck were brown.

Ok thanks, I guess i'll keep them white then. They have a few scratches where the paint is removed, I don't want to spray paint, so I guess i'll just get a fine paint brush some white rustoleum and do a little touch up.  Of course, the dog-dish hub caps do cover up quite a bit.
