Are mirrors ever white??
« on: July 18, 2015, 03:35:04 pm »
Are the side mirrors ever white, i mean the below eye level ones?  Rims are white and bumpers are white, but what about the door mirrors?

The base models had white "dumbo" mirrors.

Wow! I did not expect to actually see any?  Thats really awesome!  I guess i'll be painting mine then.  I just found some original chevy rims that have been in storage for many years and are like new, and,  are white as snow.   I was hoping to accent them with something else white on the truck.  These are factory white correct??   Thanks.

yes but make sure you scuff and etch prime.  Paint doesn't like to stick to stainless steel.

Thanks, they are practically scuffed now, but i'll be sure to properly scuff and etch prime.

Not really on a big white trip, but it all makes sense.  I found the original rims for my 77 bonanza, and they are white.  But it would be nice to accent them with something.  I have a new chrome bumber in front and rear.  So mirrors it is.  I just wanted to make sure that some models came with factory white.  Besides, my mirrors are real dull and tarnished.   Thanks.

I have the same as your 91 crew cab.  They are called "below eye level" then there is the standard mirror which is much smaller.  Just wondering if they can be swapped?

Here's the truck which i thought the mirrors were white.  The mirror brackets appear to be white---or brushed aluminum?

First off, i love western mirrors on a pickup.

Everything about this truck is so right on to me.

Don't forget about this style which were available as white painted or stainless (see attached photo)...

Even with a mechanical bond, & self etch primer sometimes stainless doesn't like to hold paint. Your best bet would be to get a pair of painted ones, & repaint them.

Yes irish alley, those ones,  but i have reconsidered... I am going to stick with the original "below the eye level" ones.  Gonna buff them out real nice, prime and use some high solids paint.  After  all....i'm always preachin on factory stock anyway. Dont wanna be a hypocrite.  They should come out nice. I'll post a pic when complete.   And yes, i like those old style western mirrors too.  What model and years were they popular?
