Sun Shade (for windshield)
« on: August 03, 2015, 10:44:16 pm »

If you are using a sun shield of some kind, what kind are you using and does it fit well? Should keep 100% of the dashpad covered.

I like the ones you can fold/collapse into a pouch so it could be shoved right under the seat (Ex: "X-Shade"), but their sizes wouldn't fit our trucks.

Sincerely,
IM

I have actually been searching for a sun shade recently also. My girlfriend got my one, didn't fit, sent it back. Bout 2 weeks ago, we tried the smaller version that she has in her car, it was too tall in height by 4 inches and 2 short 8n width by bout 2 inches on either side. The larger version was wide enough but way too tall. Haven't been able to find one that fits good yet, not to mention finding one that either goes good with the truck or has some kind of chevy design on it.

Google Coverking, they are a custom cut sun shade to fit the windshield perfectly. They aren't cheap, but $44 is not bad for what you get. You'll have to look under the "More" tab to find it and then punch in your info.

Personally i would just make one. If you go to your local hardware store they sell a massive role of Ayr-Foil or something similiar (http://www.rona.ca/en/reflective-insulation-7416072). If you want to be able to fold it then just use the foil tape to make a joint in the material and for less than $40 you'll have a custom made sunshield.

I know of another site that is a dealer for that company and all of their base sun shades are priced at $30. I'll contact their rep and see if they carry their full line as the website is niche focused.

Was using a cheap walmart job---too small.

Now, i am using poster board that you can get from the stationary section of walmart.  This is just temporary as the truck is parked outside.  Works pretty well though---i also put them on the side windows.  This, i think, really helps get the temperature down.

Im pretty happy with the small ones that are basically wire "squares" with a fabric stretched across them.  You twist them and they collapse into little circles.  These were $7 from the local auto parts store, and fit pretty well when done long ways across the windshield. There is a small gap remaining, but its not worth the $37 difference imho

Before you make a decision see how much is not covered:

I know this is kinda old now but my girlfriend got me one of these for my birthday about 2 weeks ago. It's a UVS100 Custom Sunscreen in gold from CoverCraft.

is that a sneak peak at your high tech rear view mirror?

If by sneak peak you mean is that it then no, that's the stock mirror. If by sneak peak you mean, there is space in the sun visor for the high tech mirror to fit then yes, it will fit with sunshade, the void is big enough. If by sneak peak you are referring to the little black box mounted at the top of the windshield behind the mirror, that's the antenna for my viper alarm.
