Zieg, no better place to be than in the center of the Lords will.  Stay the course brother.

As the economy is not doing well at all, despite what you read in the news,

Oh, I'm not the only one who's noticed the profound disconnect between news and reality? I have a rule, when they start lying, I turn them off...forever.

The Ivy League smart guys are doing their best to hold this economy together long enough to steal the last few things not nailed down then jump in their helicopters for Belize. Then it all comes down. I keep telling people that the only safe investments are land, away from populated areas, that you can grow food on and the tools to work that land. I think they're getting ready to listen.
i agree

How long can the fedgov borrow 42 cents of every dollar they spend ?

Every town will act like Fergeson when the fed welfare checks stop coming in the mail

Zieg-

Don't worry too much about Ferguson. St. Louis is really a great town overall. You can look at the statistics and they will scare you but crime, and the flunkies that commit crime happens everywhere.

And if you are looking for some good folks to fellowship with I know of a great little Southern Baptist church right down I-55 that is old school in the country tradition. No loud rock bands or anything like that.

Oh, did I mention how great the St. Louis baseball scene is? My youngest son plays baseball for a college that is local to St. Louis, there is the Gateway Grizzlies over in East St. Louis. There are many semi-pro teams. Also the grass roots baseball is of impeccable quality. High school, American Legion, prospects, etc. And there is the St. Louis Cardinals. I think I heard somewhere that they are doing pretty good as of late.

I forgot to ask, since you are coming this way you wouldn't consider bringing an extra set of those '91 Blazer/Suburban wheel opening molding trim that you found? Could you?

Hope all is well.

It is tough for sure.  Second week on the job, I can say so far so good.  It was touch and go getting my first truck down here with 2 break downs but I made it.  Unloaded it and my topper at the new residence.  Was greeted by 3 dear laying by the pond and didn't seem bothered I was there.  I will deal with the other stuff I have come spring as we decided to sell the house in Indiana or keep it and move back when I retire...   I guess it all depends on how well my wife likes it down here.

Tomorrow will complete 3 weeks on the job.  I am getting a little stir crazy living out of a motel waiting on the house to get a new roof.  I am staying down here this weekend to work on what I can.  I did find out retirement can happen as early as Jan. 2017 if I choose too.  Supposedly you can retire in the year you turn 55 and since I have a December birthday, I am starting the count down T-67 weeks and counting...

Tranquil morning leaving for work and I saw a photo op.  The old girl down by the pond.

That looks nice, around this time of year, my mornings look like this from my back door.

Glad the transition is ok so far.  Retirement fore me is T-13 years!  Good grief!  Need 30 years for govt. service.   The way the world is i think the Lord will show up by then.  Lord bless.

Well a hick up in the move happened.  My dad took a turn for the worse so I put the movers on hold and will reschedule when the timing is right.  Dad finally met his savior this afternoon about 3:50 PM and is no longer gasping for air.  He passed very peacefully with the family around his bedside and every last family member was able to say goodbye.

Wow! I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Just know that he's in a better place and no longer suffering. I've been there and done that when I was watching my dad dying from cancer. It sucks! Praying for you and your family! God bless!
