I'm an old member from years ago but just recently acquired my 5th square body, a 77 K10. Plans are to lift it, throw 35s underneath, and possibly a 5.3 down the road. "I'm back" as they say. Looking forward to the knowledge base here and possibly helping others. I'm in eastern NC so if anyone local needs help let me know.

I can honestly say I hate to post someone else's build, but this 81 long bed frame my buddy has for his 87 got me thinking about tearing my 77 completely apart and doing it right. Thoughts?

its better to start on the frame then once youre ready move your body over it will cut your truck down time in half i think

I've got a 4x4 K10, all original. It sat under a tree with a pool of water in the bed and rusted the floor out. From the cab back the frame looks like crap and I figure between doing a bed swap and a lift might as well paint the frame. I was thinking about just rattle can rustoleum...he used Krylon, i've seen others with POR15. Just not sure if I should tear mine down to the frame like he did and end up doing all new body mounts, grinding the frame down to bare metal and painting it or just leave it in running condition. I'm not big on patch work, and doing it right the first time usually means no unforeseen issues down the road.

Funny update: sold my 77 K10 to a guy who wants me to put his 58 Apache on the 77's chassis and running gear. Then my bud decided to sell me his 87 once he gets it put on the frame. So, it looks like it will be a few projects going on at the same time!

Welcome back from WV. I was just down to Kure Beach last month for a week. The weather was nice and we had a good time.
