New guy from around the way

Hey everyone! Ive been a visitor for a few weeks now, finally made an account. I now have a new to me '86-'87 Chevy K10, Its kinda a piece, but Im going to make it better now. I say '86-'87 because from what I can tell, the drivetrain is '86, but title and body say '87. Ive got a short box single cab 454/400/203 sittin on a 9"/8" lift, d44's with 35's.
I grew up in WV, we had a '78 scottsdale " Big Black Farm Truck" If I remember right it was 350/350/203, missing about half the body from cancer named rust.. I loved working on that truck, I became a chevy guy at heart at a very young age because of it. I now live in Texas, currently reside in Iraq for government work, Im a US Army soldier.
I sold my 2009 gmc canyon before I came over here, Im done with new vehicles for a while, I dont like breaking stuff I still have to pay for.. So I bought the truck at a low price, to account for all the money Ill put into it. Makes sense right?

Thank you all, It means the most to me that you all are so grateful right off the start. Im an electrician on helicopters, Apache to be specific.
I have a walk around video also, but the internet here is uploading at less that 1 mbps at its best, and getting it on photobucket is being difficult.
But theres a pic to please, its got that wrinkle in the fender, and the centerline on the hood is starting to crack. driver side rear cab mount will need some attention in the next couple years.. the truck is staying in west texas for now so it wont be an issue until I get it back to WV.
So far ive cleaned up the engine wiring, went through 2 gauge clusters that didnt work, said screw it and got some equus gauges from the zone and temp mounted them just to monitor the vitals, put a eddy 650cfm on it cause i didnt feel like messing with the quadrajet.
Ive broken more things on this truck in the 2 times ive had it out than ive fixed so far, thats the main reason im here, if yall wanna follow me over to the drivetrain section and give me your thoughts, id really appreciate it.
