Hello folks. I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Dan. This will be my third Chevy build, but much different than my previous builds. This will be my first on this site.

Some history:

My first build started in 1997 with my first truck. A 1983 K10 Silverado that was beautiful but being a kid I destroyed it.

I learned as I went with this truck and soon found out that several years of being a kid and trying to rock crawl it turned the frame into a pretzel. I swapped all the good stuff to a 73 blazer and did everything right.  Boxed frame front to rear, one tons locked, hydro steering, full cage, doubler etc.

I have since growed up and had to sell off everything and sit tight for a while.

Fast forward 5 years after I sold off the blazer and parts we are here today. Good job, beautiful wife and child later we are able to build a truck we can call our own.

Enter "Eustace". He's a 1980 Silverado. Power everything, AC works. 350/350/205. 3.08 gears and sits on 265/75/16 Michelin ms2's. (For now).

I have a pile of parts ready to install and a pile of parts on order so progress will be sporadic.  The most interesting for me as I've never done it is the MSD atomic efi.

And a Ricks's Tanks fuel pump from the Restomod line. If anyone is doing an ls swap or just a plain Jane efi swap these guys are top notch.

I have a massive order from Steve at Offroad Design that includes custom springs, shackle flip, brake lines, poly bushings, shocks, and some more stuff but won't be here for a couple of weeks. As of right now I have received shocks, u bolts and drop pitman arm

Plans are to build a daily driver for my wife. It's going to built right and clean. 4" lift 33"s or 35"s (not sure yet) motor will stay as is but with efi. Gears will change to 4.10 or 4.56 depending on tire and she wants a 5 speed so that will be next year.

It's gonna be a good build and I'll enjoy all the pain and scars this build is gonna  bring.

My reason for the build

And his stable mates

On his first trip out in the desert

Enjoy

After laying under the truck for a few days I have found a couple issues.   The steering box is fine (for now) but pass rear shock mount was booger welded together.

Cleaned it up, drilled some holes to keep it from getting worse.

This will hold for now. Welds aren't the best but I may change the mount setup.

Also got rid of a nice clunk in the driveline

And for some reason the previous owner put ATF in the 205. I thought it may be a leaky adaptor seal but it was right at 2 qts. Time will tell.

Welcome from WV. Good catch on the frame crack. The repair looks pretty good as well. I look forward to seeing more pics.

Welcome from Northeast AZ! That's a good looking truck! It has the same frame issues around the rear shocks that mine has. Unfortunately, it's all too common.
