Cheap interior change?

Anyone have any experience with vinyl spray paint type stuff? I used black on my tan plastic door panels and it didnt hold up well but it did hold well on the tan sun visors. Anyone ever used it on a headliner?

Theirs also a carpet refinisher spray. Anyone ever used this to change carpet color?

Any ideas for the padded dash, would spray paint hold?

In my opinion, and many others on this site, this is by far the best product for interior parts. It's designed specifically for the items you mentioned and more and it works excellent. Infact, it's the industry leader in auto interior restoration. I will only use it for my interior parts, nothing else. They offer more colors than you can shake a stick at.

I would never recommend spray paint it isn't very flexible when it cures and it will be prone to chipping real easy. Be sure to use a wax and grease remover paying particular attention to edges and any contour because they tend to accumulate the most build up even if you can't see it. Then an adhesion promoter

thats the stuff i used on my door panels and sun visors. It worked great on the visor but rubbed off easily on the plastic door panel. I dont think i sanded the plastic though.

Like any painting operation, prep work is everything. I used it on my center console box well over 2 years ago, has help up great, I use it multiple times a day.

All surfaces must be CLEAN. They make a special cleaner that is good to use. It should hold up even on high traffic areas like door panels. If it didn't handle well on the panels, they could have not been fully clean, application process wasn't done well, maybe you got a can that wasn't mixed the best or the formula was off a bit. There are multiple reasons why it could have not held up long. I would try it again.

I am NOT a fan of spraypaint made for plastic or vinyl, It applies terrible. I found some spray paint that works fantastic, and best of all, it comes in semi-gloss, like real interior look, not too glossy, not too flat.  I will send a pic asap.  And dont buy dupont!

Why not dupont? We supply a local restoration company with Dupont interior paint mixed to match factory codes, its not cheap, around $140/pt, but its extremely effective...

I tried a dupont made for vinyl/plastic and it did not apply well. I had to end up going over it with rustoleum i think. Perhaps not ALL dupont is bad, this one was not expensive.

A friend of mine used the carpet spray paint on his car's carpet. It was difficult to use it and have the results look even. (Much like when someone uses a pressure washer with a narrow jet on concrete) While it did indeed change the color, it made the carpet stiff and crusty. He didn't put it back in the car, so I don't know how well it would hold up under use.
