Sorry, gotta thread jack. How in the world can they sell a new GM 350 for $1500 with free shipping, but the best I can find for a 454 is $4500 plus a shipping surcharge?

Basic economics- supply and demand. Lol! There's a greater supply of 350's and a huge demand since it was the most common engine found in these trucks since it could be put into any configuration and weight class. A very versatile engine!

True enough.  That's a reason I stick with 350's.  If...and thankfully I'm not a ford owner.  But, for "them" a 302 (5.0) would be similar.  Just with a basic search you can run through the cost of a 350 vs 327, 400, 454 rebuilt, or heck a water pump and you'll find anything non-350 is higher.  I hate to bring up the F word again, but same with the abundance of 302 parts for that crowd.  Ok, I just threw up a little bit..  Anyways, it does come down to supply and demand.  I know it kinda sucks.  I really dig the 400 motor, but its just not worth it in the long run.  I also dig some diesel set ups.  But, gotta pass and stick with 350.  Just about every Chevy motor is legendary.  The 292 is still up in running in many original 1960's and 70's Chevy's...original motor and daily driver.  Chevy always delivers whatever motor you can afford.  This message paid for buy experience haha.

You know, there was a time when the object of business was to meet customer needs. Owners knew that taking care of customers and making a reasonable profit was the key to long term viability. Then somewhere in the '80s, the Ivy League MBA schools decided that "profit maximization" was the object of business. "Profit maximization" is a euphemistic way of saying that you keep raising prices and scaling back quality until the business ultimately fails. When it happens, get a government bailout. If that doesn't work, collect your golden parachute and move on to wrecking the next business. Everyone else can go to Hades because we have an army of starving Chinese slaves to replace them. The philosophy behind business went from "the customer is always right" to "I got mine."

These idiots run our world now and we wonder why everything is screwed up. Our system is wholly committed to its own cataclysmic destruction and when it happens, no one should be surprised.
